Gold Coast, AUS: Private Pool + Brielle

February 26, 2025

Gold Coast with the Van Luvan’s was a big highlight for me. I had so much fun hanging out with them after not seeing them for 8 months. I enjoyed shopping with Brielle, swimming in our pool, and making up dances.

We stayed with the Van Luvans for nine days. We shared a house, and it was super nice. Brielle and I shared a room, and so did Kinnon and Luke. We even had a pool and our own loungers to tan on. The first time we met was at their hotel. At first, it was awkward, but we warmed up later. Once we got to our Airbnb, we swam and caught up with all the stuff we hadn’t talked about.

The first day we pooled. Brielle had to catch up on her rays, and I had to make sure I was still tanned. We made up a pool dance and a tap dance. We also had to try all the popular Australian food. One of the things Australia is known for is Veggie mite. It was super salty and gross. Brielle didn’t like it, Luke said it tasted like sweat, Kinnon didn’t try it, and I thought it was very salty. The next day we went shopping. We went to a mall and beach stores. We found quite a bit of good stuff, we even got matching shorts. Brielle had a lot of money to spend there, and so did I. Later that day, we went back to our place, we continued to make a tap dance and made TikToks.

A really good day we had was going to a water park. It was a Wet and Wild one. It was fun. My favourite one was the tubes. Brielle and I tagged together the whole time. We went on the majority tubes. My favourite one was were your tube went down a steep slide. I was a little scared about it, but it turned out to be my favourite. After that, we went to get some snacks. We got churros and slushies. They were really good! It was a hot day, so it was nice to be at a waterpark. Once we got home after that long day we went to bed and had a good sleep.

A few days later, we went to Moreton Island.  It was an early day. We had to be out by 7:30 am. Moreton Island was an hour drive to the dock and then an hour and a half boat ride. The boat ride there was pretty bumpy. Luke was feeling a bit sick and he did puke. It was bumpy there and a few people were a bit nauseous. Once we got there, we geared up and went in. Moreton Island was full of shipwrecks, so it was cool snorkeling in it. Once we got in it was pretty bumpy there. You could feel yourself bobbing with the waves. I got comfortable snorkelling after the Great Barrier Reef happened. When we started snorkeling we saw so many fish. You were surrounded by fish. It was way more than the Great Barrier Reef. We did see coral and a stingray. While we were snorkeling, my dad thought he saw a big shadow under us but didn’t know what it was. We carried on and nothing happened. After snorkelling, we ate lunch on the boat, while another group went. Later, they took us to the island and beached it. The water was really clear and the sand was like butter. Eventually, we had to go home, and we went to bed. A few days later, we found out there was a shark attack where we were, the same day, and 30 minutes after we left. Which is so crazy, and I’m glad it wasn’t us.

The last few days we chilled and pooled. One thing I loved was when we got cute and went out for supper. One thing that made me laugh was when Luke was making us sniff Kangaroo Sroctum. He didn’t even know what they were. It is known as his nickname lol. We did get some extra day in there at a hotel. We still didn’t do much, but it was a blast with them. I’m so glad I had a friend, and I can’t believe they came to Australia. I can’t wait to see them when we come back. It was so fun!
