Week 1
September 1-8th, 2024
When we got to New Zealand there were way more mountains than I thought they would have. I thought it would be like Saskatchewan, like really smooth. When we landed we picked up our rental car at the airport. We got a Kia Niro, it was nice. We were really tired on the second day because of the time difference. We went to bed at 9 pm and woke at 11 pm and stayed up until 1 am and then I moved into sleep with my dad. I finally woke up at 11 am. When I woke up there was a surprise (not really a surprise), as I got 15 of these Disney packs from the groceries my Mom ordered. And my favourite card was the golden retriever from Guardians of the Galaxy, Cosmo. The rest of the day we just chilled, same as our third and fourth days here.
On the 5th day, we had our first day of school. It was way better than normal school. We started with wordle and then reading, math and then we had a lunch break then we did science. My favourite day is Thursdays because we go on hikes and nothing else. On Friday, we went to a place called “Jumparama” (every Friday we do this thing called Coin Flip Fridays). It was really fun. On the 7th day we went to Cuba Street, it is this famous street because it has all these cool stores and has lots of art. I got a cinnamon bun at this little cafe.
On the 8th we went to go see these seals at Red Cliffs Trail. We thought you could just drive in there but your car had to have four-wheel drive. So instead of driving 13 minutes, we had to walk 2 hours there and back. And it wasn’t like a strait path it was like you had to go over rocks, over a river, and up a hill. I’m saying it was not easy. The rest of the day we chilled.
