Naxos, Greece: Charming Towns

May 3, 2025

Naxos is the largest island in the cyclades. We stayed in Naxos for a week. We stayed in an area called Plaka. Our Airbnb was a cute Greece place with a little hot tub. It reminded me so much of a Greek home. We spent lots of our time chilling, exploring a new island, and eating delicious Greek food.

Naxos had so much charm in the little towns. We went to little towns on the hills. It had so much charm and little streets. It was really pretty. They had little shops and restaurants and gorgeous views. The stones on the ground remind me so much of Greece and the doors too. Greece is so beautiful and unique. One thing that surprised me a lot in Greece was how there is a lot of countryside. I expected it to be like santorini but It is more farms and agriculture than I thought. I really loved all the towns and countryside. It surprised me how charming Greece actually was.

Naxos water is so blue and gorgeous. It was so clear and had really pretty shades of blue and teal. We went to a well known beach in Naxos called Hawaiian beach. It was a rocky beach but was very secluded. The water was really cold since we were in the off season but looking at that water made you want to go in. The pictures can’t even capture what the colour of the water is. Their beaches were really nice and I will for sure come back again in the summer when the water is a bit warmer.

One of the best things about Greece is their food. It’s so good and fresh. My favourite Greek food was Gyros and Greek salad. Gyros had so much flavour and were so delicious. Greek salad was very fresh and the feta with the vegetables is such a good combo. Naxos was known for their cheese and potatoes. We tried some of their cheese, it was pretty good. Their potatoes were pretty good too. Lots of the restaurants weren’t open because it was off season. So we had very selected restaurants. But they started opening up the week after. Overall their food is so fresh and good.

Naxos really was a great spot. It had everything you want on an island. Where we stayed was great, their food was delicious, and The water was so gorgeous. I loved Naxos so much. It was quiet and less touristy and was a really charming little island. I would love to go back to Naxos and explore more about it.
