Athens, Greece: Acropolis

May 7, 2025

Athens is one of the oldest cities in the world. Athens is full of history, shops, and delicious food. You only need a few days to tour the whole city. We had 3 full days in Athens. I really loved how walkable and close everything is. It’s a perfect city if you love history.

Athens is a great place to see some of the oldest things known to date. Athens has been inhabitat for over 5,000 years. Some of the most famous landmarks are in Athens like The Acropolis which has the Parthenon, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and Panathenaic Stadium. The Acropolis has so much history and is crazy that we are touching buildings that are thousands of years old. The Odeon of Herodes Atticus used to be a theatre in the Acropolis. It still has performances till this day. The Panathenaic is where the Olympics used to be held when it first started. All these buildings have so much history and it is so crazy how old this all is. If you like to learn about history you should come to Athens.

Everywhere in Athens is very walkable. If you’re in the center of Athens you are fairly close to everything. Where we stayed it was only 20 minute walks to everything. Lots of the stores are all there too. There are so many souvenir stores and clothing stores to choose from. It’s endless. I ended up buying me and my friends some bracelets from a souvenir store that was pretty cheap. I would say everything in Greece is very affordable. You’re pretty close to stores, monuments, and endless transportation. Everywhere in Athens has really good transportation and is very walkable. It’s perfect to get around everywhere.

Greece’s food is so good. I know I say that on every blog but there is one place that I loved so much. There was a Gyro place down the street from us that was delicious. It had so much flavour and freshness. I also really enjoyed their Lukamatatas. They are like a Tim Bit but have sauce on top. I got the Kinder sauce. It was really good and sweet. We also got honey ones. They were really good. Honey ones are the traditional ones. Their food in Athens had a lot more flavour and that Gyro was the best one I’ve had yet.

Athens was full of history. I learned so much about the Greek gods and their monuments. Their food was so good and everything was very walkable and cheap. I had a great time. We managed to explore Athens in just 3 days. I really liked Athens and learned so much.
