Australia is known for their amazing beaches and deadly animals. We stayed in Australia for a month. We went to Noosa Heads, Chinchilla (The outback), and Hervey Bay. They all were all so hot, full of wildlife, and had a few unlucky things that happened to us. I loved doing our daily pool swims and our nights exploring around. Some of the stops were not planned out but it all added to our adventure and it worked out.
When I think of Australia I think of their animals like: Kangaroos, Koala’s, Snakes, and Spiders. When we were in Australia there were a few animals that you expect to see, but it is not as often as you think they are. The first week we were in Australia we saw some big spiders. They had big webs and had long legs. We even saw some colourful ones. We only saw them outside in the tree’s and they never would do anything. You didn’t ever see a snake beside in the Outback there was a big one, but we saw it in our car. We did see some Koala’s at the Zoo. We went to the Australian Zoo that Steve Irwin owned. It was really cool! The Koala’s didn’t do much but they looked like a little teddy bear. At the Zoo we also saw Kangaroos. We got to pet them, they were super funny and I love the way they jump. Later we also got to see some wild Kangaroos. At the Zoo we saw Steve Irwin’s son do a show on crocs. It was cool because we saw someone famous. Australia is known for the world’s deadliest animals in the world including reptiles and marine life. Did you know that snake bites are really rare and they get about 3,000 snake bites reported each year with only 2 deaths per year. There had been no reported deaths from spiders since 1979. There are a lot of animals in Australia but we didn’t see lots of wild animals. I loved seeing the animals and I don’t think you should be scared about going to Australia because of the Wildlife.
When we were in Australia there was a cyclone.It was the first cyclone in 50 years. They didn’t know what to expect. When we were there they weren’t planning to have a cyclone. A cyclone is a hurricane in North America. We knew a week in advance that there was going to be a cyclone hitting near us. It wasn’t supposed to hit us but it was close. We initially thought we would just stay where we were to be safe but 2 days before it hit we decided to go inland and take a bit more precautions. So we went into the Australian Outback. We were in the middle of nowhere. We went 4 hours inland to a place called Chinchilla. It was super dated and old. You didn’t see much besides dessert. We stayed in a motel there for 2 days. We didn’t do much besides rest. Later we thought it might be a bad idea to stay here cause it was a low line area and it was supposed to hit near us. We left back to the coast where it was not supposed to hit. We were happy about our decision and it was super nice where we stayed. It was an ocean view apartment and was super pretty. The next day we woke up to a massive thunderstorm. It was pouring rain and the lighting and thunder was loud. 20 minutes after we woke up an alarm went off in our building to move our car and take shelter. It was flooding everywhere and we got hit by the cyclone. We stayed inside for two days with little food. Once the weather got better we went to get some groceries. All the stores were closed and there was nothing open. Eventually we found one food place open. It was a Mexican restaurant and was pretty good. The cyclone damage was $1.2 billion dollars. Only one person died from the cyclone. A fact about cyclones and hurricanes is that cyclones spin clockwise and hurricanes spin anti-clockwise. Our cyclone experience was a lot but never have I ever been in a cyclone before. It is a good story to tell and it is crazy we were in one.
The beaches in Australia are incredibly beautiful. Their water is so blue and the sand is so soft and fine. One of my favourite things in Australia is their beaches. They always have so many shells and sea urchins. My favourite beach we went to was Hervey Bay. Their water was very warm and the things we found on the beach were super cool. We found about 15 sand dollars that were still alive and 1 starfish. I’ve never seen a starfish before and it was very pretty. The beach in Gold Coast was cool, it was a beach with a city landscape behind you. It had really big waves and the sand was super squeaky. Another really good beach was Moreton island. Their water was a teal colour and was super clear. The sand was soft and the water was like a bathtub. It was an island so the view’s were stunning. It was a really good beach. The last beach we went to was Noosa beach. It was nice but not my favourite. The waves were a bit big for me so I tanned instead the whole time. The sun at the beaches are next level. I find it’s hotter when you are at the beach in Australia. Did you know that Australia’s beaches stretch about 50,000 kilometers and are linked with more than 10,000 beaches. It’s more than any other country in the world. I really did love Australia’s beaches. It was for sure the warmest water I’ve been in. It was one of my favourite things in Australia.
All things Australia is known for we went to. There were so many animals and beaches. I would love to go back to Australia and revisit. It has everything you want for a vacation. There is so much to do and see. It was a great spot, I really enjoyed it!
