Edinburgh, Scotland: The Real Mary King’s Close

July 8, 2024

Country number 4 out of 27. Edinburgh was great! It was so cool to see the city under Edinburgh, hiking, and many more stuff! We were in Edinburgh for 5 days. Our apartment was not the nicest but it was perfect for what we were there for. The first it was just a chill travel day. We took a 30-minute flight from Belfast to Edinburgh. The day consisted of watching Candance Nationals cheering on my friends and chilling on my phone or watching a movie.

On day two, we woke up and went to pick up some groceries at our local grocery store. Then we ate some breakfast and started heading out. we went to go on a hike. The hike was great! We took one of the hardest routes, the route wasn’t that hard because it was mostly stairs. It was quite slippery because it was on and off raining. At one point I got a little scared because of the wind blowing me away, but other than that it was easy. We took the easy way down because it would be easier than taking wet slippery stairs down. After that, we went and got some food. we went to a restaurant but me and Kinnon didn’t eat anything. Instead we went to a bakery and got a treat. Kinnon and I went to a bakery and got some food. It was delicious. After we went to Scotts monument. It was a really pretty building. It had some elegance to it. Then we went to the castle. We didn’t go fully up but we just saw a side view. it was nice, it was the best thing I’ve seen out of the whole trip so far.

The next day we went to these gardens, it was nice. It was full of plants and flowers. It was very pretty, and that for sure gave us some ideas for our future home. After the gardens we went out for lunch we went to a place that was on a second-story outside patio. It was pretty nice. I didn’t eat much only because I wasn’t hungry, so I just had some fries. I even got 5 pounds for eating an olive. I don’t recommend eating olives they are disgusting. In the evening we just chilled since we were tired. I also did a quick stretch before I went to bed.

The next day we went under a city that doesn’t exist anymore. It was cool. I love spooky stuff and was hoping I would see a ghost but that did not happen. It was cool and would for sure recommend it. It is so crazy that they would just build another city on top of an old city. After that it was time for supper so we went for supper. majority of the supper I was cheering on all my dance friends while they were in nationals. They all did so well. The supper was great their food was really good. After we went for dessert we got some ice cream. Their ice cream was creamy. on our way home it started to pour but it was ok because we were about to hop on a bus.

Our stay in Scotland was great! I loved everything about it and was in my opinion better than Ireland and northern Ireland. you should go to Scotland! can’t wait for our next stop!
