If The Streets Could Talk: Belfast

July 4, 2024

Belfast, Northern Ireland. If a city could talk, this one could tell a story.

You can feel the animosity and see the wounds of the city: the 45′ peace wall, freedom corner, murals of fallen “soldiers” and the list goes on. You can tell it has tried to move on but Irish people hold tightly to their past.

It is very different than Dublin, as the city has adopted more Western building styles. Not sure if it is better, but it is a mix of old and new, standing side by side. Not many tourists, unlike Dublin where 200k Swifites dominated the city…but it was nice to see and experience the history firsthand.

The best part of Northern Ireland was the Irish countryside: Giant’s Causeway. It was just stunning, like take your breath away stunning. Cliffs diving into the Irish Sea, the greenest landscape you can imagine and unbelievable rock formations created by Giants (or volcanic eruptions but I choose to believe the former).

The one thing I wish we did more in Ireland was the countryside. Next time 😉

    1. Hi Kress family! Good to hear you are doing well. I’ve loved reading the blog posts and hearing you different perspectives about the same places you are visiting. These posts will be a pretty special keepsake to read together as a family in the years to come. I’m glad Kayden got found and that Kinnon managed to overcome his fear of heights. Mark and Brittani, you are so brave!

      1. Brave or crazy 😉
        Thanks for the comment.
It is interesting to find out, places you thought nothing of before departure are so special for so many different reasons.
